In most cases, after you format the memory card in camera or on computer, the boot area and file information blocks get emptied and initialized. The memory card looks like it is empty and contains no files, but the data is still present on the SD card. So, it is still possible to restore lost data from SD card using REMO Recover (Windows) Media Edition software.

What should you do when you accidentally format your memory card?

Immediately stop taking pictures using the memory card. If you need to take new pictures, try to use a new memory card.

Next, download the Trail version of REMO Recover (Windows) Media Edition software. The software will perform a quick scan on your SD card, and lists the recoverable pictures in minutes. The recovery software works on a “what you see is what you get” principle. If you can see the lost pictures using the trail version then they can be saved once you purchase the Full version of the software.

REMO Recover (Windows) Media Edition software is a read only application that does not write anything to your memory card, so it is safe to try.

The software is most reliable and has an easy to use interface that allows any non technical person to restore lost data from SD card with ease.

The software uses a very advanced technique known as signature search that will recover your lost data in worst case scenarios. The software is reliable to recover your multimedia files that include image files in various formats such as JPG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, GIF and also raw photographic files in formats such as CRW, CR2, NEF, ORF, SR2, SRF and MRW. The software can also recover audio and video files of all well known formats.

Most of the digital cameras in use today, make use of a flash memory card, for storage of the pictures taken using the camera. The flash memory cards come in different capacities, with the memory capacity ranging from a few Megabytes to a few Gigabytes. The memory card is no doubt an extremely useful storage device, but if not handled with care, it might create some trouble for the user.

The most common reason, for loss of photos from a flash memory card, occurs when the memory card is unplugged from the PC in an improper manner. In such situations, the user ends up pulling out the memory card from the card reader, without disconnecting the device correctly. The second most common reason for loss of images from a flash memory card is due to accidental formatting of the memory card. But there is nothing to worry, as you can still recover images from SD card using a good recovery software.

In both the cases, make sure that you stop further use of the memory card, to prevent further loss of data. Remove the memory card from the camera, and seal it securely. Download and install REMO Recover (Windows) Media Edition software onto a healthy machine, and connect your flash memory card to this machine, using a card reader. Recover images from SD card, using this healthy machine.

When one takes a photograph using a film type camera the light reflected off of the object being photographed is burned onto the film inside the camera. The lens and aperture precisely control this light so that the film can properly gradient the reflection of the image.

A digital camera works much the same way except that once the reflected image is captured on to hardware as opposed to a piece of film that image must be translated into a coded format. As with all digital information, it is stored as a series of zeros and ones. The structure of these determines the specific code being used. What makes this interesting is that the various digital camera manufacturers choose not to standardize their coding and each brand of high-end digital camera saves files in its own RAW files format, which makes the process to recover digital photos lost in a camera especially challenging.
